Daren Sáner
Daren Sáner, aged thirteen in The Circle of Twelve, is the protagonist of the entire Súperiae saga by Michael Oehley. Child of a higher citizen and a clone, Daren was not supposed to be born. His elemental powers also make him unnatural on the starship Súperia. His ability to travel through time and influence the pages of history makes him dangerous to the starship authorities, so he is confined to isolation for a year…

2 – Associated with Amasú, goddess of the feminine
Alana Melinum
​Alana Melinum, fourteen and daughter of the starship’s chief computing officer, is a polymath genius capable of solving nearly any problem or hacking into any system. Her abilities are blunted when she, like her friends, is confined to a prolonged period of isolation and falls into a deep funk.

3 - Associated with Aareval, the earth god
Din Kópiada
Din Kópiada, fourteen, and son of two administrative officers, never wanted to have adventures. After last year’s debacle in the military, he just wants to keep his head down and stay out of trouble. Problem is that his friend Óríoní is determined to join the rebellion against the false Súperia II – and wants to drag Din into the drama.

Sela Dorávier
Sela Dorávier, thirteen, daughter of a starship councillor and military officer, is Daren Sáner’s best and most loyal friend – or is she? Boron Delaxid, fourteen and son of the former Deputy Commander of the Súperia, is Manix Savagon’s bitter and hated rival. Boron seeks to rally his divided friends behind Daren Sáner, the one person Boron believes can unite the starship before it is too late…

Garey Láer
Garey Láer, thirteen, is in love with Sela Dorávier and hero-worships Daren Sáner. He wants nothing more than to please them both. So when Sela appears to betray Daren by going over to the side of Manix Savagon, the false Súperia II, Garey is conflicted and bereft. He has to make a choice between doing what is easy - and what is right.

Ávion Égel
Ávion Égel, fifteen, is a newly generated clone and engineer on the starship. Like his friend Rúvé, Ávion is condemned to a lifetime of service followed by early termination at age 60. When Rúvé is condemned to die, Ávion makes the brave choice to stand up for his friend, despite the risk to himself.

Lídar Ámonel
Lídar Ámonel, fifteen, is one of Manix Savagon’s five chosen adherents as the so-called Súperia II. But despite being Manix’s oldest friend, Lídar cannot shake the doubts he has about Manix’s suitability for such a pivotal leadership role. His doubts grow with each bad decision Manix makes – but what to do about it when the penalty for treason is death?

Úma Óváy, sixteen, is a navigation officer aboard the Súperia and a leader of the quiet resistance against the regime of Súperia II and the Commander. The Ev-Énor Queen is the principal antagonist of the Súperiae Saga. She features near the end of The Vitality Code in an epic showdown with our protagonist, Adarenas. She possesses his friend Seladora and undergoes seven transformations in an attempt to frighten, intimidate, coerce, or bully Adarenas into giving in to her will. The sixth transformation is not shown below - she takes the form of Seladora herself and attempts to trick Adarenas into listening to his friend.

Hawk-Eye is an experienced old sailor who keeps lookout from atop the Seahawk's Nest on the Akawe Lítúsiae. Daren strikes up a friendship with the old man, but he is later forced to choose between his loyalty to his skipper and his affection for the boy...

Súperia the Magnificent
Súperia the Magnificent, founder of his eponymous Empire in the year A.S. 0, is a mythological figure referred to frequently in the histories. The Súperia is rumoured to appear at times of conflict and decay in the Empire, when ordered civil society breaks down. He is said to appear as a young person with white hair and blue eyes; and he rallies the support of other youth who are inspired to deliver change to a troubled world. These followers are called the Circle of Twelve.
