Daren Sáner
Daren Sáner

Thanks to the wonders of AI, I am finally able to present the main character of my entire series the way I have always imagined him aboard the starship Súperia, clad in sleek futuristic blue spaceship with a green toga slung over his shoulder, and sporting his characteristic stunning blue eyes and white hair. Daren has been with me (in my imagination) for 25 years and counting - the dependable, determined, courageous, sometimes self-doubting, but always loyal and true hero of the Súperiae saga.

I have always been immensely proud of Daren Sáner as a character. He embodies some of the best human values - including a reflectiveness on his own power/abilities and the merits or otherwise of using those powers for good. He thinks about his actions and feels strongly when there are unintended consequences. He loves his friends, cares for them, and worries about the impacts that the adventures he gets swept up in will have on them. He is not without fault - he can be reckless, hard-headed, and set in his ways. Sometimes, he finds it hard to accept help from his friends - but he is full of heart, love, and loyalty. He is my favourite character - and not because he is the main character, because he is a deeply good child determined to grow up into a good man who does right by the world with the awesome powers he has been gifted.

The cover of The 4 Powers of Daren Sáner (Revised Edition) - coming soon!

This past week I have been finishing up work on editing The 4 Powers of Daren Sáner, the adventure that started it all - and I'm thrilled to report that the manuscript is complete, the book is formatted, the cover is designed, and my proof copy is on the way. Watch the website in the next few weeks - The 4 Powers of Daren Sáner (Revised Edition) is coming soon and will be available for purchase at michaeloehley.com in the near future. The revised edition is true to the original - the plot does not change - but I have edited and improved several passages, including removing some of the redundant Súperiae language which may have made the book harder to read than was originally intended for the target audience (8-12 years). Most authors have some 'bugbears' in their own work; so this revised edition was a great opportunity for me to improve and modify some of the clunkier passages of narrative. I can't wait for readers to enjoy this wonderful adventure, the way I want it read.
